Grandfather, 105, says ‘I love you’ to his 100-year-old wife on their 80th wedding anniversary as she lies on a New York hospital bed

This is the heartwarming moment a 105-year-old man says ‘I love you’ to his 100-year-old wife on their 80th wedding anniversary.

Arthur and Marcia Jacobs are among the oldest couples in the country. They still show that they love each other every day even though their health is fading. They recently spent their 80th wedding anniversary in a hospital room because Marcia was a patient.They were surrounded by their children and grandchildren as Arthur held his wife’s hand and talked to her.

In the video, Marcia can be seen struggling to communicate, but kisses Arthur’s hand as he makes the sweet declaration to her in as she lies in her hospital bed

Footage of the emotional encounter was taken by their grandson, Brooklyn-based filmmaker Gabe Jacobs.

Arthur, who was born on August 19, 1912, is seen saying: ‘I love you, I’ve loved you for 80 years honey, that’s a long time.’

Marcia, born five years later on June 25, 1917, is unable to communicate her full thoughts, but smiles and holds his hand.

Their grandson, Gabe, said: ‘My grandparents are incredible.

‘Marcia can really only say “hello, hello” but she seems to have some sort of understanding of her surroundings.

The couple met at the University of Wisconsin. Marcia is from New York and Arthur is from Hammond, Indiana.

Arthur worked for the War Manpower Commission in Washington, DC during World War II. He holds a PHD in economics from the University of Michigan.

Marcia served as the social work director of Hebrew Home For The Aged in Riverdale, New York. They lived for many years in Larchmont, New York, and now live in Rye, also in the state.

Footage of the pair getting on well has gone viral with over 25,000 views on YouTube and countless comments supporting the sweet couple.
