INGREDIENTS
- 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced.
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped.
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced.
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste.
- 1/2 Tsp.Of red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat).
- 2 Tbsp.Of butter.
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
PREPARATION:
1st Step: Cook the bacon over medium heat in a large skillet or sauté pan until it becomes crispy and caramelized. This action imparts the entrée with a deliciously charred bacon flavor. Using a slotted utensil, remove the cooked bacon from the skillet, leaving the bacon fat behind.
2nd Step: Add the onions and garlic to the bacon grease in the same skillet. Typically, it takes 5-7 minutes for the onions to become translucent and begin to caramelize when cooked over medium heat.
3rd Step: Add the cabbage and season with a sprinkle of salt, freshly ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes, if desired. The cabbage will shrink and become tender as it incorporates the bacon, onion, and garlic seasonings.
4th Step: Continue cooking and stirring the cabbage mixture for approximately 10 to 15 minutes over medium heat, or until the cabbage has softened and taken on a golden hue. Observe it to prevent scorching, and modify the heat as necessary.
5th Step: Once the cabbage is tender and thoroughly cooked, return the crackling bacon to the pan. Stir them in to uniformly distribute the bacon throughout the dish.
6th Step: To add a hint of richness and flavor, incorporate the butter into the cabbage and bacon until it is completely dissolved and coated.
7th Step: Transfer the Bacon, Onion, and Garlic-Fried Cabbage to a serving dish. If desirable, garnish with minced fresh parsley for a pop of color and a touch of vivacity. Serve promptly as a delectable accompaniment to your main dish.
