With tears in their eyes, Jase and Missy Robertson make the heartbreaking announcement

Mia Robertson, the youngest daughter of Duck Dynasty’s Jase and Missy Robertson, was born with cleft lip and palate, which is a gap in the upper lip that can also affect the gum.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one out of every 1,600 newborns born in the United States has a cleft lip and palate.

Mia, who is now 18 years old, has had 13 surgeries as a result of her disease, the 14th of which was performed recently. The family genuinely hopes that this is Mia’s final procedure before her issue is resolved.

Throughout each procedure, the young child remains optimistic. Most importantly, she hopes to inspire other young children born with the same issue. Mia founded the Mia Moo Fund on her own initiative, with the help of her family, to help ensure that every child smiles.

“One of the Mia Moo Fund’s functions is to spread awareness of the cleft lip and palate journey,” Missy Robertson told Christian Post. “The other one is to help with medical funds for the parents and the families living right here in America.”

On his podcast Unashamed, Jase Robertson provided an update on Mia’s status and stated that his daughter is doing well.
“She is doing fine. “She’s turned a corner,” he stated, and then added, “Everything appears to be fine.”

“The surgery took a little longer than expected, but she is home and recovering,” the caring father told his podcast listeners. Thank you for praying for her and our family. “She is a champion.”

Before the surgery, Missy discussed her daughter’s health and noted that she was frequently asked about the amount of procedures Mia might require in the future. “There is never any other response than ‘We just don’t know,'” she stated. She then said that they rely on God for help. “Since she is 18, she has taken the lead in all talks and medical forms. It’s been a bit strange,” Missy wrote. “But it’s just another reminder to lean on the Lord and that I’m not in control.”

Mia also hopes that she’s at “the finish line.”

“Hopefully the last time I’ll see my doctors in this setting! It’s been a long road but we are at the finish line,” brave Mia said.

The Robertson’s have also been preparing for a new addition to the family as they open the doors to their hearts and home for a child whose mother was unfit to take care of.

We wish Mia speedy recovery.
