Why A Few Broken Relationships Are Actually Good for You

“No relationship is ever a waste of time. If it didn’t bring you what you want, it taught you what you don’t want.”

Many people tend to think that if they have been through a few relationships that didn’t work out, they must be doing something wrong. Or maybe the other person is to blame. Or maybe they’re just unlovable. Whatever the reason, society generally frowns upon people who are having trouble finding the one. There is this idea that everyone should meet their Prince (or Princess) Charming while they’re young and get married and settle and be happy for the rest of their lives with that partner. Sadly, reality doesn’t work that way. Human relationships are much more complex than that. And sometimes, they just don’t work out. It doesn’t mean the Universe hates you. Here’s the reasons why broken relationships are actually good for you.

We’ve all been there, through a nasty breakup or two. It can leave you feeling dead on the inside thinking you’ll never be happy again; thinking you’ll never find happiness with someone again. These are all natural thoughts and feelings that can be overcome in time.

Once you grow out of the mindset that is all about blaming and anger and grief, you can look at things more objectively. You realize that if something so amazing ended in your life, it means it wasn’t meant to last in the first place. Learn to appreciate how wonderful it was while it lasted and accept that nothing lasts forever.

Once you overcome the initial despair and withdrawal feelings, you will leap into a more positive framework.

1. You will realize you are much stronger than you thought you were.

You will finally see that at the end of that big bad tunnel there are opportunities for personal growth.

2. You will be able to reestablish connections you may have lost with your friends and learn that they are truly beside you.

You will go out more and cherish the friendships that helped you through.

You will have a chance to set new goals and work on improving yourself professionally and personally. You will know exactly what you’re looking for in a relationship now but also what you’re not.

3. You will become wiser.

This is the most important. You will accept the reasons why it didn’t work out and look ahead. And at the end of all this, you will find love again.
