It wasn’t only Donald Trump’s long remarks or his surprise comments on tariffs that drew attention at the World Economic Forum.
Photos showing a visible bruise on the president’s left hand also sparked widespread online speculation.
As images from a signing ceremony in Davos circulated, social media users questioned what might have caused the mark. The White House later addressed the issue directly.
According to Donald Trump, the explanation was simple. Speaking to CNN aboard Air Force One, he said he accidentally struck his hand on a table and applied a bit of cream afterward.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed that account in comments to Fox News, saying the president hit his hand on the corner of the signing table.

A White House official added that Trump bruises more easily because he takes daily aspirin, a fact previously disclosed by his doctors. The official also noted that the bruise was not visible earlier in the day.
Despite the explanation, skepticism spread online. Some users questioned how such a bruise could occur while signing documents, while others defended the president, pointing out that bruising becomes more common with age and can happen unexpectedly.
Trump later expanded on the issue, explaining that his regular aspirin use increases the likelihood of bruising.
He said he continues taking a high dose as a precaution for heart health, even though doctors have told him it isn’t strictly necessary.
The incident renewed public curiosity about Trump’s health, especially following past appearances where he seemed to conceal his hand and earlier reports about precautionary medical scans. The White House has maintained that there is no cause for concern.
