‘Toilets came up white!’ Banish toilet limescale using item that’s ’better than bleach’

Toilet scale is a common household problem that may be one of the least pleasant tasks that homeowners have to deal with. However, cleaning professionals have shared their tips for removing thick limescale from toilets.

1. Using Black Harpic

Luckily, some fans of the cleaning sensation shared their simple solution to removing limescale from toilets.

I blotted up all the water, and used Black Harpic directly on it (without water).

I left it on for a few hours. Then I used a dish brush and a toothbrush around the edges. Both toilets came back white!

2. Using Barkeepers Friend

How to remove hard water stains from toilets (step by step)

Gather all the necessary supplies.

Put on a pair of rubber or latex gloves and cut out a small square or two from a sheet of fine-grit drywall sanding screen. Set them aside.

Gently open the Barkeepers Friend and sprinkle it inside your toilet.

Wearing the gloves, begin to gently but firmly scrub the hard water buildup in a circular motion with the drywall sander. Do not press TOO HARD. Our goal is to remove hard water stains, not to destroy the porcelain.

Continue until all accumulated hard water stains have been removed.
Rinse.
