This is why you should wash your hair with cola
Who doesn’t love smooth, silky, shiny hair, and we do everything we can to keep it beautiful and thick. Luckily, there is a simple product that could make all the difference, and chances are you already have a bottle in your fridge.
Washing your hair with Coca Cola could have big benefits
Coca Cola and other soft drinks contain phosphoric acid, which has a very low pH, which tightens the cuticle and makes hair strands smooth, shiny and gives a nice wavy look. In fact, by rinsing with cola and then washing with water, the hair is more plump. Plus, the presence of sugar gives the hair more volume.

How to wash hair with Coca-Cola
You will need
- A one-litre bottle of Coca-Cola (or two 500 ml bottles)
- A large mixing bowl/strainer
- A towel
- A hair dryer
Before washing
- Detangle your hair.
- Put away all the things you’ll need.
The Process
Step 1: Place the bowl on the table, gather the hair in it.
Step 2: Saturate your hair with Coca-Cola. Be careful not to spill any
Step 3: Dip hair several times in the Coke and squeeze excess liquid into your hair.
Step 4: Shampoo your hair to remove all traces of Coca-Cola and air dry.
You’ll notice a difference in the texture of your hair. It may look soft. However, you may not notice any shine or volume.
If you want more texture and wave, skip the shampoo. Just rinse your hair thoroughly after washing it with Coke.

You can use it to descale your kettle or to clean the toilet, for example. Apparently, this popular drink is so chemical that it can clean things. Who knew?
You can also use it to remove gum from your hair (or your kids’ hair). Fill a bowl with Coke and put the hair strand with the gum in it. Let it sit for a while and see how easy it is to remove the gum.
