This 6-year-old boy is made fun of by his classmates because of his big ears – then his parents make a drastic decision
Back in 2015, a six-year-old boy from Utah underwent plastic surgery for his ears after being вullíєd for them by his schoolmates.
Gage Berger, had been the ᴠɪᴄᴛɪᴍ of вυℓℓуιиg throughout his first year at school.
When he was 6, his classmates called him “Elf Ears” and teased him for his protruding ears.
“That I look like an єlf,” said Gage, when asked what the kids would say to him. “And that I have ᴡᴇɪʀᴅ ears.”
Gage’s school should have worked with his parents to put an end to вυℓℓуιиg, but Gage’s parents, Tim and Kallie Berger Kallie watched helplessly as their son continued to be вullíєd.
“He just gets really down on himself and he feels like he’s not good enough,” Mom Kallie told the newsmagazine.
Gage himself was clear about what he thought about all of the nasty comments. Sometimes, Gage would even look in the mirror and try to push back his ears just to see what he would look like. “I just don’t want to be made fun of,” he told Inside Edition.
And it was then that the boy’s parents made a drastic decision—to put an end to their son’s нєℓℓ. Tim and Kallie took Gage to see facial plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Mobley in Salt Lake City, Utah, for ear surgery.
“They often get some not-so-nice names stuck to them, like ‘bat ears’ or ‘єlf ears,’ and that sticks with them through middle school and high school,” said Steven Mobley, the doctor who performed the surgery.
The surgery took about two hours, and when Gage saw the result, he blurted out, “Oh my gosh!”
No matter how you feel about plastic surgery, one thing is certain: Gage is very happy!
