My oldest daughter moved out three months ago and got her own apartment.
The other day, she called me and asked,
“Dad, can I move back home?”
I replied, “You moved out because you didn’t like my rules. Just so you know, my rules haven’t changed!”
She quickly said, “That’s fine, Dad! I’ll gladly follow them!”
I was surprised.
“What happened? Why the sudden change?”
She sighed dramatically.
“Dad, ever since I moved into this apartment, there are so many people against me! They clearly don’t like me!”
I asked, “Who are these people?”
She started counting them off.
“The rent people…”
“The electricity people…”
“The gas people…”
“The car payment people…”
“The grocery people…”
“And the cellphone people!”
I paused.
“So basically…”
She nodded.
“Everyone who sends you a bill?”
“Exactly!”
I smiled and said,
“Welcome home, sweetheart. Your room is still available… but rent is due on the first!”
