Seven best friends buy a mansion and spend 460K renovating it into their dream home in China – so they can grow old together

Seven best friends buy a hotel and renovate it for 460,000 euros in the house of their dreams in China – so that they can age together

It started as a joke in 2008 with seven best friends: they said they would all age together in a dream house in China when they retired.

But the dream came true last year when the girls fell on a property in the Guangzhou suburb of Guangdong Province (south-east) and decided to rebuild it as their retirement home.

After a four-million-yuan (£ 462,000) renovation, the stunning three-story home is now complemented by floor-to-ceiling windows, a lavish tea pavilion, a huge open kitchen and a pool.

This 7,535-square-meter house is located in a picturesque village about 70 kilometers from downtown Guangzhou. It has on the ground floor a large common room and seven rooms for each of the ladies in the floors above Yitiao in a report.

“At first, it was just a joke,” said one of the friends named Jin Du in Yitiao. “We said we would meet at age 60 and live together in retirement.”

The seven women met at work 20 years ago and have been best friends ever since, said Ms. Jin, adding that they were all over 30 now.

They made each master a pact for a useful skill at retirement, such as cooking, traditional Chinese medicine, vegetable growing and music.

“We are all independent individuals, but we can communicate and rely on each other at the same time,” said Ms. Jin.

“Ten years later, our children would have all grown up,” she added. “So we hope we can be together again in 10 years.”
