Prince William will reportedly encourage Charlotte and Louis not to become working royals.

Upon first glimpse, the life of a member of the royal family appears to be beautiful, but living under the pressures of the monarchy isn’t all that it seems. Knowing this, Prince William appears to have already made a significant decision regarding the destinies of his two youngest children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. According to one royal expert, Will may persuade Charlotte and Louis to avoid becoming working royals after he takes the throne.

William is reportedly all-in on the effort to ‘slim down’ the monarchy.

According to royal writer Richard Eden’s column in the Daily Mail, a friend of Prince William has stated that he supports dad King Charles’ intention to reduce the number of working members of the royal family.

“When the older members of the family retire, His Royal Highness won’t be inviting anyone else to become working royals. It remains to be seen if he will even want his two younger children to be working royals,” said the friend.

When Will takes the thrones, things will be different for his kids.

The unidentified source went on to claim that Will sees “small European monarchies as the model for the future,” and it appears that he and Kate will be the only working royals when it is his turn to reign — at least if everything goes according to plan.

Another inside source seems to be in agreement.

According to The Daily Beast, Will and Kate want to prevent Louis and Charlotte from feeling like the “spare” in the same manner that Prince Harry did as Will’s younger brother.

“They don’t want history to repeat itself,” the insider said.

Of course, Will and Kate putting distance between their kids and the monarchy has been strategic.

“The option isn’t there for George, of course, but the children have been kept at arm’s length from royal life,” an insider told the Daily Beast. “They are exposed to the minimum possible publicity, and that is a deliberate strategy to let Charlotte and Louis choose their own destiny.”

This would be a major change in the way things have been done.

However, Will and Kate appear to believe that this is the greatest option for their children.

“He and Catherine adore the children, and their whole lives are about the children. I think they want to find a practical solution to the ‘spare’ problem that has bedeviled the family for generations,” the source continued.
