One evening, a husband and wife were talking.
The wife sighed and asked,
“Have you told Jim yet that the girl he’s dating isn’t right for him?”
The husband shrugged.
“I’m not planning to.”
She frowned, her voice rising:
“But he’s your best friend! You can’t just let him marry someone like that. It’s awful!”
The husband stayed completely calm, as if it wasn’t a big deal at all.
He leaned back, a slight smirk on his face:
“Let him marry her…”
He paused for a moment.
Then added casually:
“When I married you… he didn’t try to stop me.”
