Meghan Markle, 42, sees herself as Princess Diana’s successor, according to a royal expert explaining why.

Few people in the worlds of royalty and fame have captivated the public like Princess Diana and Meghan Markle. Now, a royal specialist has shed light on Markle’s point of view. Meghan Markle has been the subject of intense public scrutiny since her romance with Prince Harry began. Some have compared her to Princess Diana, while others say she could never match her late mother-in-law.

Princess Diana, known for her compassion and challenge to royal standards, created a legacy of humanitarianism and vulnerability that altered the British monarchy. Markle, a former American actress who is now Duchess of Sussex, built her path, defying norms and facing severe scrutiny in her royal job.

Meghan Markle “sees herself as Princess Diana’s heir” as she “cashes in” on her legacy, according to a royal expert.

The Duchess of Sussex launched her lifestyle company American Riviera Orchard earlier this month, and it was later announced that her new business would sell a wide range of products such as homewares, table linen, tableware, nut butters, and jams. It was also revealed that she planned to launch her own cosmetics line under her new business, as well as expand worldwide with haircare products, home fragrances, and pet care.

While Meghan has yet to announce the official launch date of American Riviera Orchard, fans have gone crazy over the teaser video that was released to reveal the mother-of-two’s new venture, which revealed never-before-seen glimpses of Meghan and Prince Harry’s luxurious mansion in Montecito, California. It was predicted that the former Suits star would earn more than six figures in sales in the first week, but one royal expert feels Meghan is leveraging her late mother-in-law’s legacy to aid her new venture, which was revealed on a significant date.

“It’s important that Meghan’s new American Riviera Orchard brand debuted on the same day as the Diana Award; Meghan has always viewed herself as Diane’s heir. She perceives herself as suffering because of the media, much as Diana did, but there will be a lot of criticism on this side of the water that she is just trying to cash in on Diana’s legacy,” royal analyst and author Tom Quinn tells us exclusively.

While he claims there are “groans” at Kensington Palace about Meghan’s new endeavor, he feels the ex-actress “just cannot understand” why profiting from her “connections” might be considered unethical. Meghan unveiled American Riviera Orchard on the same day as The Diana Award celebration, which saw the late Princess of Wales’ warring sons giving heartfelt speeches in memory of their mother.

Prince William delivered a brief address at the Science Museum in London earlier this month to commemorate the charity’s 25th anniversary, stating that his mother taught him that “everyone has the potential to give something back, that everyone in need deserves a helping hand in life.”

Harry waited until William had departed the ceremony before connecting via video conference with 20 Legacy Award winners from around the world. “My mum would be incredibly proud of all of the work that you’ve done, I’m incredibly proud and thank you for doing everything that you do,” the 39-year-old told reporters. “I’m sorry I can’t attend. I wish I could be with you guys.”
