“Animals love you until the last breath … they are so beautiful souls,” commented a person on Facebook.

“I feel so broken looking at the picture,” says another.

The Animal Rescue Center in Boston, New Jersey, shared the situation hoping to find the faithful dog, whom they describe as “gentle, young and happy by nature”.

They wrote:

Moose sat patiently near his father’s hospital bed, waiting for his return, unaware that “Papa” had died. Moose is now back with our friends at the eleventh hour of rescue and he is struggling to lose his father. Please help Moose find a new home and a new family to love. He is by nature a sweet, happy boy. He only needs people who help his heart to recover.

Elk was taken care of by another eleven-hour rescue center before finding a suitable new home.

They emphasized that the new owners of Moose should help the grieving animal to recover:

It is a 3 year old lab mix, housebroken, loves kids, works well with dogs (which are pretty neutral to them), but is not meant for a house with cats or birds. But do people, boy, love him? So much so that in a house where he was not alone all day, Moose would do his best, because he missed his people too much. If you can help Moose heal her heart by providing a temporary or permanent care home, go to ehrdogs.org and submit an application to meet this adorable and loving boy. Let us heal that broken heart together

Only two days after its publication, Moose was adopted after several applications by a “wonderful family”.

North Pet Rescue went on Facebook to learn more about the well-being of Moose. We thank everyone who shared the story:

Update: MOOSE has been adopted by a wonderful family who will nurture and love him for the rest of his life! Thanks again to everyone who shared his story!

We are so happy that Moose can have a happy ending.
