Kind-Hearted Boy Helps Blind Deer Find Food Every Day Before School

We have always been told to care about everyone in the community, but as we grew old, we limited this to our family only.

Yet, children are much more open-minded and pure, so they never forget others, including animals, when in need of help. Back in 2015, an image posted by a Reddit user, under the name of Bluecollarclassicist, quickly went viral, and made everyone breathe an “aww!

One morning, the Reddit user noticed a 10-year boy walking around his neighborhood with a young female deer.

Along with the photo, he wrote:

“There is a blind deer in our neighborhood and this boy (10 yrs old) walks her from one grass patch to another every day before school to make sure she finds food.”

The kind-hearted boy simply lent a hand when he saw a need in the deer.

Apart from her blindness, deer like this one are also in danger from government wildlife officials, who will often put animals down without any attempt to save them.

Luckily, several responders encouraged the original poster to contact a wildlife rescue to help the deer and ensure it was not put down by Animal Control.

Soon after sharing the shot, the Redditor returned with an update:

“The deer is getting picked up today by a local animal rescue group (NOT animal control) and taken to a vet for assessment. It will likely be tagged and taken to a controlled forest preserve but they did say that since she seemed so docile that she might end up in an approved farm or petting zoo.”

The deer was eventually adopted by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), a licensed wildlife rehabilitation group, legally authorized to treat and shelter a deer.

Even though the two were friends for a few days only, their bond was based on love and care.

Even when the IDNR folks came out to retrieve the deer, the 10-year-old boy was happy to send her off to safety.

That’s what best friends do, isn’t it?

After the deer was picked up, bluecollarclassicist wrote on Reddit:

“He showed a lot of love and respect and my wife and I are going to talk to his mom about a way she would want to see his act of kindness rewarded.”

I don’t know about you, but I would love to have this boy in my neighborhood!
