If you use smartphone or laptop before going to bed, your brain and body are suffering these things
The smartphone and laptop we are all using produce a bright blue light which allows us to see the content on the screen.
The worst part is that this light imitates the sunlight, thus distracting our brain to believe that it is day time when in fact it is night and you have to go to bed.
On this way, the brain reduces the amount of melatonin (the sleep-inducing hormone), which result in insomnia and other sleeping disorders.
The pineal gland, an organ in the brain is responsible for the melatonin release. Whenever you use your smartphone and laptop before you go to bed, you are affecting Melanopsin located in your retinal ganglion cells which are sensitive to blue light. This is the reason why you can’t fall asleep.
This blue light released from television sets, laptops and smartphones has more influence on teenagers compared to adults, due to the fact that circadian rhythm can shift more in adolescents than adults, which cause teenagers to stay up all night.
Also, this can be because of the increased usage of blue light emitting devices at teenagers, which sometimes use these devices all night.
According to Dr. Martin Blank of the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at University of Columbia, other electromagnetic emitting devices like WiFi and cellphone devices are also a cause for concern.

The best thing you can do is to limit or avoid looking at your screen before going to bed.
Instead of using your smartphone, you can read a book before bedtime, but make sure that the light in your room is good and bright.
You will improve your sleep and you will no longer experience insomnia and sleeplessness when you will stop using these blue light emitting devices before going to sleep.
