If you saw Hollywood celebrities wearing red pins at the Oscars – you need to know what it means

The 2024 Oscars were held yesterday night, and as usual, the red carpet was crowded with celebrities dressed in their finest!

Everyone strives to put their best foot forward on one of Hollywood’s biggest nights.

Some folks observed an unusual detail that many superstars shared. Continue reading to learn more. Billie Eilish, a singer, and her brother, producer Finneas, will attend the 2024 Oscars. Actors Mark Ruffalo, Ava DuVernay, Ramy Youssef, and Quannah Chasinghorse all wore pins on their clothing, which had many people perplexed.

Later, actor Mahershala Ali, who did not walk the red carpet but appeared on stage to introduce this year’s Best Supporting Actor candidates, was spotted wearing the pin.

Because none of these celebrities appear to have collaborated on the same project, many people were left wondering what the pin represented. The pin in question was a circular red pin with a little black heart and the outline of a hand surrounding it.

Many folks were left wondering what the pin meant. The artists wore these pins to express their support for a cease-fire in Israel’s war on Gaza.

Since Israel’s war on Gaza began on October 7th, Palestinian health officials say that over 30,000 people have been murdered. Many of those murdered by Israel’s strike were children, and figures show that over half of Gaza’s population is under the age of 18.

As the slaughter of Palestinian civilians enters its sixth month, more individuals than ever are calling for a regional ceasefire. Artists from Hollywood and beyond have also joined the appeal for peace. More than 400 celebrities joined the Artists4Ceasefire initiative. between late October, the campaign published a letter urging President Joe Biden and the US Congress to call for an urgent cease-fire between Gaza and Israel.

However, unlike the pins that represented causes like as the Time’s Up campaign in 2018, which were worn by practically every star on the red carpet, only a few celebrities wore pins supporting a call for a ceasefire at the 2024 Academy Awards. Earlier this year, at the Grammys, only Boygenius and Annie Lennox were seen wearing the same pins, with Lennox appealing for a ceasefire on stage.

Actors Milo Machado-Graner and Swann Arlaud, who were in the film Anatomy of a Fall, were also seen wearing pins of the Palestinian flag on the red carpet.

Ramy Youssef, a comedian and actor who co-starred in ‘Poor Things’ alongside Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo expressed his frustrations with the lack of momentum in the call for a ceasefire and subsequent end of the war against Gaza.

“There’s no other route,” Youssef said in an interview alluding to the call for a ceasefire. “It’s taking so long… That’s what we’re all encouraging everyone to be vocal about.”

Other stars who were signatories on the Artists4Ceasefire letter included Cate Blanchett, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Cooper and America Ferrera.
