If you notice these signs, reduce your sugar intake before something worse happens to your body

Sugar is sweet yet dangerous when taken in large doses. So, in the spirit of good will, I’m bringing you some ways to know that the sugar intake in the body is much; here are a few pointers to know

1. Bad Breath

Firstly, sugar itself causes bad breath and it is bad for your oral health. It also contributes to tooth decay, cavities and gum diseases. That is why eating too much sugary foods increases the activities of bacteria in the mouth. The best ways to deal with this is to start taking little or no sugar at all, brush after eating anything sugary especially before you go to bed at night.

2. Acne

Once you consume sugary food, it gets converted to glucose leading to insulin spike. Too much sugar intake leads to inflammation, excess oil production, secretion of androgen leading to excessive acne. It’s important to note that people who consume too much sugar are prone to recurring acne. Insulin spike also leads to clogged pores causing dull and tired skin. If you experience a sudden increase in acne and breakouts, limit your sugar consumption and see if it is making any positive difference.

3. Feel hungry all the time

When you consume too much white sugar or sugary food, your body burns up sugar quickly making you feel hungry in a short period of time. Even though sugar can be satisfying for your taste buds, it doesn’t make your stomach happy due to the lack of proteins, nutrients, fibers etc. Sugary items may also lead to compulsive eating. You may end up eating more than what is required by the body.

4. Weight gain

Sugar also contains a lot of fat so it is only natural that the body will increase in weight when it cannot break down the fat. Besides, if you overly consume sugar, you’re fast getting on your way to being obese!

5. Sleep issues

Your sleep patterns may also get interrupted when you consume a lot of sugar. Excessive sugar intake spikes your insulin leading to release of adrenaline and cortisol, which triggers your sleep. One needs magnesium for sleep and sugar uses a lot of magnesium causing sleep issues. Thus, you must avoid sugar especially at night to not interfere with your sleep schedule.

6. Poor memory

Lack of concentration and poor memory/memory loss come as a result of high sugar consumption. High sugar intake fires up the sugar level which slows down the brain after cutting down on the energy it needs to function properly. In the end if sugar consumption is not controlled, this can be a major issue.

Henceforth next time, you experience any of the signs above, have a look at your diet and become conscious about the amount of sugar you are consuming. If you have too much sugar and want to flush it out of the body, drink plenty of water.
