He sold his house to send his daughters to the US to study, but they never came back. 10 years later, he decided to go on a trip to find them
Duyen makes a living by selling coffee on the street for 10 years without seeing her two daughters since they went to the US to continue their studies.
The 74-year-old single father hasn’t seen his daughters since 2009 after they graduated and left him alone in his hometown, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
According to Vietucnews, the father has single-handedly raised two daughters since his wife passed away.
As the sole breadwinner of the family, the father is under a lot of pressure to ensure that his two daughters get the best education and have everything they need.
In the end, he sold the house to send his daughter to university abroad.
The old coffee seller then moved to a smaller and cheaper house while still selling his daily coffee on the street. All he expected all these years was that his two daughters would graduate with bright colors and land a decent job.
His daughters are doctors and professors respectively, but none of them have returned to their hometown to visit their father in the past 10 years.
This caused the father to go to the US to reunite with his two daughters. Now that he’s saved enough money for plane tickets and expenses, the dad recently hung a banner over his stall that he’s taking a long break from selling coffee.
On the banner, the father wrote that he would take 48 days off from March 5, 2019 to April 21, 2019.
“I don’t have any valuable things to bring to the US, so I will be bringing 3kg of coffee beans as presents,” the father said.
Although his two daughters have never visited him, Duyen said they often call to check on their children. However, he doesn’t mind as long as his daughter is healthy and doing well
