Robert Joyce, a minister from rural central Arkansas, has created an interesting online debate.
Joyce’s voice is so similar to that of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, that a video of him went viral, prompting others to question his identity.
The Express spoke with Tom Mennel, an Elvis fan for life, on his belief in Joyce’s true identity. Mennel, 61, still believes Joyce is Elvis, despite the fact that he has been a fan of the King since the age of six. He hoped Joyce would reveal his true identity at some point.
“If Elvis were alive, I would say to him, my friend and brother, we are of kindred spirits,” Mennel stated, reflecting on what he would say if Elvis were still walking among us. In Christ, we are united.
The power of a viral video to spark national debate and identity politics is explored in this article, which also touches on the enduring impact of cultural giants like Elvis Presley.
