Grandma sat on the couch, staring at Grandpa with a very serious expression.
Grandpa immediately knew he was in trouble.
“What happened?” he asked. “Why do you look so upset?”
Grandma crossed her arms.
“I’m disappointed in you.”
Grandpa swallowed.
“What did I do?”
“You walked right past me this morning and didn’t even tell me I looked pretty!”
Grandpa smiled.
“Oh, I didn’t want to interrupt your beauty sleep.”
Grandma raised an eyebrow.
“Beauty sleep? I was already awake!”
Grandpa nodded confidently.
“Exactly. Even your beauty was awake before you were!”
Grandma tried desperately to stay angry.
She lasted about three seconds before bursting out laughing.
“You’re lucky you’re funny,” she said, “or I’d be mad at you all day!”
Grandpa smiled proudly.
“Good. I just saved money on flowers.”
