Dunkin’ employee who was evicted with her three children is given a furnished HOME by a loyal customer who orders from her at the drive-thru every day
Ebony Johnson’s enthusiastic service at a Dunkin’ location in Ohio is so memorable that regular customer Suzanne Burke noticed when she had not been working the drive-thru for a few weeks in March.
Suzanne Burke surprised her favorite drive-thru employee with an entirely furnished home after learning that she had recently been evicted.
Suzanne Burke, from Mount Healthy, Ohio, met Ebony Johnson three years ago while she was buying her coffee at the local Dunkin’ drive-thru.
Since Suzanne is an avid coffee drinker, the two women became close, chatting almost every morning while she picked up her daily fix of caffeine.
When she discovered that Ebony, who is a single mom with three kids, had been evicted from her home, Suzanne quickly sprung into action and found her a new place to live – and even filled the house with furniture.
Suzanne gave hardworking Ebony the ultimate gift – a permanent place for her and her children to call home – after she said she provided ‘amazing customer service’ for three years.
Suzanne worked with staging designer Jo Potvin of Design to Market, and they also teamed up with New Life Furniture Bank, an organization that accepts donations of household items and makes them available at no charge to those in need.
‘It’s as much a gift for us as it is for them, to be able to provide this for them,’ executive director Dana Saxton said.
Ebony was touched by the act of kindness and broke down in tears as she walked into the home for the first time.
She was especially thankful that her kids would have a place to celebrate the upcoming holidays.
This isn’t the first time that someone has surprised a local drive-thru employee with a massive gift.
In October 2021, a group of customers teamed up to purchase a brand new car for a Burger King drive-thru employee in Tappahannock, Virginia, named Lisa Bateman.
The 60-year-old told the outlet that she walked over a mile to work every day for seven years straight.
