A man was pulled over by a police officer for speeding.
The officer walked up to the car and reached for his ticket book.
Before he could say a word, the driver quickly rolled down the window.
“Officer, please let me explain!”
The officer raised an eyebrow.
“Go ahead.”
The man pointed nervously toward the back seat.
“That woman back there is my mother-in-law.”
The officer glanced into the car.
“She’s been living with us for three months,” the man continued.
“And today—finally—she decided to go back to her own house!”
The officer nodded.
“Okay… so why were you speeding?”
The man looked genuinely worried.
“Because, Officer…”
“I need to get her home before she changes her mind!”
The officer stared at him for a second.
Then he burst out laughing.
“Sir, get back in the car.”
The man looked confused.
“Am I getting a ticket?”
“Nope.”
The officer stepped aside and waved him forward.
“I’ll give you a police escort.”
The man smiled.
The officer added:
“Today, we’re not taking any chances!”
