Choosing to adopt a child is no small decision. There are many financial, emotional and psychological factors at play when someone decides to add a new member to their family – triple all of them if the person is adopting three children.

KC and Lena Currie, from Sudbury, Massachusetts, began their parenting journey when they adopted their son Joey, 2 in 2018.

The couple was thrilled to have him in their lives.

Some time before, KC and Lena saw a picture of the young boy and were told by the Children’s Friend agency that they would be a good match for him. In March 2018, they formally adopted him. But that was just the beginning.

“We saw a picture of Joey and Children’s Friend mentioned [it] would be a good match,” Lena explained. “He was 18 months old at the time.”

The Curries soon received a call from the Children’s Friend saying that Joey had a 6-week-old brother, Noah, who also needed a home. The Curries took him into their home without hesitation.

Only to then learn that there was a third brother, Logan, whose adoption into another family had fallen through. The Curries took that as a sign that someone was trying to tell them something.

Only a month after letting Noah into their home, Logan, too, joined his brothers.

“It was our gut feeling,” KC said. “We were going to end up saying yes because keeping the brothers together was really important to us.”

“When they’re older and have questions, they’ll have each other to lean on and experience that ride together.”

Though they hadn’t planned on taking in a second child, it simply “felt right” to keep the brothers together.

“They’re a wonderful family. They’re flexible — they really understand the kids’ needs, the importance of maintaining sibling relationships, and the long-term impact of that.”

Of course, becoming parents to three children under the age of 4 has not been a walk in the park, but KC and Lena have done a remarkable thing in accepting responsibility for these siblings.

Not only will Joey, Logan, and Noah now grow up together, they will benefit from the immeasurable gift of being in a loving family.
