Boy Gets Teased For His Pink Shirt.. Later, He Texts His Mom With This Unbelievable Photo

The first month of school can be really scary.

In a little town called Sheboygan Falls, just 100 miles south of Green Bay, a little boy named William Gierke was attending Sheboygan Falls Elementary School. Little William Gierke is just a fourth grader. What follows is a story that will absolutely warm your heart.

On his first day of school, he decided to wear a bright pink shirt, with the words “Tough Guys Wear Pink” bold on the front. The shirt is designed to help raise breast awareness c.a.n.c.e.r. William didn’t think this shirt would make him a target for bullies in his school, but sadly…

After William wore a proud pink shirt to school in the morning, he returned home in the afternoon with tears in his eyes. It turns out that his classmates had actually BULLIED him for wearing his pink shirt. William was mocked and repeatedly called “sissy” for wearing a pink shirt. This is not how any child wants the first month of school to go.

His mother, Tomi, was absolutely heartbroken. William even told his mother that he was scared to go back to school again. Any parent would be heartbroken to hear their child say that. Feeling completely powerless to protect your child.

Soon, things were looking up for William.

That weekend, William sent his mother a picture of him at school. Pictured is William and his teacher, Mr. Winter, posing together. All seemed fine but then Tomi took a closer look at Mr. Winter and that’s when she realized it. You won’t believe what this teacher has done!

Mr. Winter actually wore a couple of pink shirts every day for a week to show his support for William. In the photo Mr. Winters is actually wearing a bright pink shirt!

Mr. Winters told TMJ4 why he wears the shirt:

It started as a way to help William feel safe at school. And that’s what I wanted was a way to feel that way and know that he was supported.

After his teacher wore the pink shirt for a week in a row, William felt much more confident wearing his prized shirt among his classmates.

“I don’t let [the bully] bother me anymore”

What a great teacher! Through one simple act, William was able to feel safe going back to school. Be sure to let us know what you think of this story below!
