As a parent, what is the most heartbreaking thing your son/daughter has done with you?

Every night my husband David would come in from work, I would usually be cooking his tea and then I would feel his hands on my waist and he would lean round and kiss me. This happened every night except when he was sick, if that was the case he would blow a kiss to me instead so I didn’t catch anything from him. My little seven year old girl would always be sat on the kitchen counter at those times. Sadly David was killed in a horrible accident and I’ll tell you what started happening. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

My little girl would disappear at 4:59pm and then return at 5pm like David did.. “I’m home,” she called out. This was what my husband used to shout. I frowned and continued stirring the soup and then she climbed on to the kitchen counter, placed a hand on my waist and then leaned over and kissed my cheek. And you know she did that every single night and still does now. She told me it was for daddy because he can’t do it anymore. And just like he did, he she’s ever sick she’ll blow the kisses to me instead.

And on birthdays and Christmas she always writes a card for her dad as well because he can’t. Heartbreaking but so thoughtful.

It’s heartbreaking but the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. My little Emma has the kindest and biggest heart.

“Emma has a very beautiful, kind, and loving heart.

And even at a young age, she could tell just how much David loves you. She intuitively picked up on it and knew how to respond with that kind of love too.

I’m so sorry for your loss. But I hope you continue to feel the love from your husband within your family and your home as it lives on with you and your daughter.”

“A truly loving child at such a young age. She is a treasure and support to you and this is enough to break anyone’s heart.”

“This is by far, the most heartbreaking story I’ve read .

Kids eh?? They have this habit of pulling at your heart strings.

You have a truly amazing child.

I wish you well for the future.”

“Brought a tear to my eye Victoria. She put aside her own grief in those moments to put you first, at such a young age. I hope wherever in the world she is she feels safe and loved just like she made you feel in those moments. ❤️”
