Jenny, a small business owner, finally moved out of her cramped, dingy old workspace into a luxurious new office. Thrilled with the upgrade, she texted her friend Kate: “I finally left that awful dump and moved into a beautiful new place!”
Delighted for her friend, Kate immediately phoned a local florist to send a gorgeous congratulatory bouquet to Jenny’s new address.
The next day, the flowers arrived at Jenny’s desk, but the attached card simply read: “Rest In Peace.”
Thoroughly confused, Jenny called Kate, who was absolutely mortified. Kate immediately dialed the flower shop to demand an explanation for the bizarre mistake.
“I am so incredibly sorry, ma’am,” the florist apologized frantically. “We made a terrible mix-up with the delivery tags, but please have some sympathy for us right now.”
“Sympathy?!” Kate snapped. “You sent my friend a funeral card!”
“Yes,” the florist sighed heavily. “But you have to understand, somewhere on the other side of town, a grieving family is sitting at a funeral… and they just received a giant bouquet with a card that reads: ‘It’s about time you left that shithole and found somewhere decent.'”
