A bride is facing flak after she tied her newborn daughter to her wedding dress and dragged her down the aisle.
The s.h.o.c.k.i.n.g photo was posted on Reddit, drawing criticism for placing the baby in the folds of the bride’s dress as the newlywed walked down the aisle. The baby appeared to be placed and secured at the bottom of her wedding dress, causing all the guests to look at the baby in the picture. The incident happened in 2014 but the image resurfaced on Reddit forum r/weddingshaming recently.
The bride, SC, who hails from Tennessee, can be seen walking down the church aisle arm in arm with a man with her baby, Aubrey, behind her on the folds of her long white gown, reported Daily Star. SC insisted her 1-month old daughter was “awake and well secured.”
Mrs SC enlisted the help of her tiny baby at her wedding to JB at the Elam Baptist Church in Ripley last month, who she somehow managed to fix into the back of her long trail.
The couple, who live in Jackson, just outside of Nashville, are reported to have only welcomed their little girl, Aubrey, just a month before the ceremony.
Her dress – which is believed to be part of Vera Wang’s diffusion line, White by VW, costing anywhere from around $400 to $1400 – appears to have been altered to allow for the child.
SC was called out and targeted for tying her baby to her dress when the photo was posted online. Redditors were horrified after seeing the image. One person couldn’t believe the image was real. “Please God, tell me that is not a living baby… And if it is, wtf… no one running after her to save the baby?” asked a Redditor.
SC addressed the criticism after the photo went viral online.
“People questioning what we do, commenting all negative, and just doing the most. We good though we are covered by the Blood which never loses its power. So to the media, radio, news, and whomever else wanting to talk about what WE do here you go: Media Media I see how it works regardless of the situation or purpose people gonna have something negative to say!” she said.
She then cited that God was on her side and that’s all that mattered.
“The answer is we do what we want when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine. Our 1-month-old was awake and well secured on my train. Most important while y’all got ya feelings in us we had our hearts in Christ which covers all!!” she said, before boasting that the image made the ‘top blog’ from small-town Ripley, Tennessee. “Too bless for mess!! Thank God we ain’t no celebrities oops got fans, guess we is!” she concluded.
Thankfully, the baby wasn’t hurt or injured.
KJ, a woman who said she served as the wedding coordinator for the ceremony, confirmed the same and defended the mother. She said the mother’s decision to ‘include’ the baby in the walk down the aisle ‘indicates the dedication of her mother (and father) toward caring for her child and family,” reported The Huffington Post. “A GOOD mother takes her child wherever she goes, even down the aisle,” said Jordon.
