5 Signs Your Neighbors Secretly Get Jealous Of You

1. Complaining about everything you do

Jealous neighbors feel threatened by your achievements, and because of this, they will never agree with anything that you say or do. Now, if you are the type of neighbor that never cleans up after their dog or blasts their music so anyone can hear it from miles away, we get it; you are a bad neighbor, and it is obvious that the other neighbors will complain about you.

But if you are not doing anything like this and they are still complaining about you, this might be a clear sign that you have jealous neighbors. Why would they be picking holes in you if there is nothing wrong? They seem to be bothered by everything you do. The sound your car is making when you start it, they hate it. Is your dog barking? Too bad; they hate this too. And so on and so forth – you’ve got the idea.

It is like they are just looking for an excuse so they can be mean to you.

2. They embarrass you in public

If you notice that they constantly insult you but pretend to be your friends, you might just have some jealous neighbors. When people envy you, they might start to criticize you and everything you do.

And what is worse is that they might find it pleasurable to put you down in front of others. If you ever achieved something and your neighbor, whom you consider a friend, started to publicly shame you in front of other residents, we have some bad news: they might actually not be your friend.

Jealous neighbors might do this because they want to make themselves look better than you. If they consider you a threat, they might intimidate and embarrass you because it makes them feel better.

3. They imitate you

When you are dealing with jealous neighbors, if they start imitating you, this can indicate that they consider you a threat and copy you because they aim to be more like you. Now, if we get back to the first theory, it’s not that they don’t like you. They want to be you, but for this to happen, they have to do something to take your place.

And sometimes they will start to imitate all the things you do. Do you have a new pool? Surprise! They’ve just started building a pool in their yard, and they always insist on telling you that their pool will be so much better than yours.

4. They deliberately give you bad advice

The biggest and scariest nightmare of your jealous neighbors is seeing you succeed. So, considering this, why would they help you when they could easily sabotage you? If you ever asked one of your neighbors for advice and they seemed very eager to help you, but in the end, their advice turned out to be the worst advice ever, it might have been a mistake. But if this keeps happening, your neighbor might have something to say to you.

Many times, a jealous person will go out of their way to make sure that you don’t succeed. They don’t want to see you get what you want, and they will do everything they can to stop you from achieving your goals.

While having jealous neighbors is not the most pleasant thing, you can always learn the signs and take steps to avoid interaction with those people.

5. They are happy about your failures

Jealous neighbors won’t probably openly tell you that they are happy because you failed, but this doesn’t mean that they aren’t expressing this in more subtle ways. There are many ways someone can celebrate your failure.

Maybe every time you talk to them, they bring up that one time when things didn’t work out for you. More than that, maybe they enjoy discussing things like these when others are around to hear them.

Keep in mind that one time when you bought some new sprinklers, but unfortunately, you installed them the wrong way and managed to floor your whole yard? When that happened, your next-door neighbor seemed to be in an excellent mood.

If you notice that your neighbors change their mood when you are having a low time in your life, you might be dealing with some jealous neighbors.
