93-Year-Old Veteran Takes Three Different Buses Almost Every Day To Visit His Wife’s Grave

Ted, 93, from Hawaii, travels six days a week to visit the grave of the love of his life. KGMB-TV shared his wife Florence left him forever in 2013, but Ted continues to visit her six days a week.

The journey to his wife’s grave takes Ted from his apartment in Waikiki all the way to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. This forces him to take three different buses to reach the final destination.

While ted is at the cemetery, he tends to Florence’s grave, taking special care to ensure that there are no weeds or overgrown grass. The 93-year-old tells people that making sure her gravesite is always in pristine condition is the least that he can do after all of the time Florence spent taking care of him for 72 years
When visiting her at his grave, Ted always tells Florence, “payback time.”
Whether it Rains or shines, Ted arrives at the cemetery by 6:30 am. He is often the very first visitor of the day.
Ted and Florence reportedly met in Pennsylvania when they were only 16 and 14 years old. Right away, Ted knew that he was going to marry Florence. The man even went home and told his dad that belief.

The couple were separated for only a brief time when Ted was serving his country fighting in WW II. During that time, Ted kept a picture of Florence always on him. Once he finally returned from the war, they were married and then went on to have a son. Ted worked as a teacher while Florence worked for the FBI.

Ted is such a considerate husband that he has already arranged for people to continue to bring his wife flowers even after he is gone. He keeps a calendar of all of his visits to his beloved wife. Because of this, he knows that he has made the trek over 1,300 times.
“I’ll keep going as long as I can go. God will tell me when I’ve had enough.”
