Brits have been cautioned of a new travel hack that purports to provide them 53 days of yearly leave in 2025.
It’s a well acknowledged reality that we all work too hard and don’t have enough time to unwind.
Whether we want to spend our leisure time relaxing, seeing the world, or simply getting smashed, there never seems to be enough time to enjoy ourselves before work calls.
As a result, a travel hack that purports to quadruple your yearly leave will be quite popular.
But beware, this may not work for everyone.
What is the Annual Leave Hack?
In the United Kingdom, full-time employees are entitled to at least 28 days of yearly leave. However, this might vary by employment, with the typical worker taking around 33.9 days off each year.
This plan, posted by The Sun, claims to provide 53 days off while only utilizing 23 days of vacation. This means it’s not only achievable, but you’ll have a few additional days to experiment with.
So how do you do it?
Get 10 days off with four days of vacation for Easter.
Easter 2025 is on Sunday, April 20th, with Easter Monday the following day and Good Friday on the 18th.
Workers who have already taken four days off should schedule either Monday, 14 April to Thursday, 17 April, or Tuesday, 22 April to Friday, 25 April.
Including the weekend days, either before or after your AL, will provide you with much-needed time away from your workstation.
Strategic bank holiday bookings
After Easter, the following Bank Holidays are just a few weeks later in May, and they provide additional alternatives for making the most of your time off.
The May Bank Holidays are on Mondays 5 and 26. To have nine days off, schedule the four days after the bank holiday as leave.
For example, booking the 6th to 9th of May off will offer you time from Saturday, May 3rd to Sunday, May 11th.
Your last Bank Holiday opportunity before Christmas falls in on 25 August, giving you another opportunity to maximise your time off.
If you book from 26 to the 29th August off as leave you’ll be off from the 23 August until 1 September – which should be enough to holiday to see you through until winter.
Festive season
With the busiest time of the year approaching, you’ll want to take some time to relax and complete your Christmas shopping.
Christmas 2025 occurs on a Thursday, so scheduling the 22, 23, and 24 off will give you a run of days from Saturday, December 20 to Sunday, December 28 off.
If this isn’t enough, you may additionally request December 29, 30, and 31 off to relax till the New Year.
Will this method work for everybody?
Unfortunately, the answer is no.
To make this strategy work, weekends and bank holidays must be designated as guaranteed days off, which means that if you work in customer service, hospitality, or any other industry that does not operate Monday through Friday, employing this method will be much more difficult.
