Princess Kate is returning at Wimbledon! Royal joined by Charlotte for a rare appearance

Princess Charlotte will attend the Wimbledon Championships final alongside her mother, Princess Kate, and aunt Pippa Middleton.

Princess Charlotte has arrived in SW19 with her mother, Princess Kate, to sit in the royal box at the Wimbledon Championships 2024 this afternoon, alongside Kate’s younger sister Pippa Middleton.

Princess Kate entered with her daughter and chatted with staff before making her way to Centre Court, dressed in a purple Safiyaa gown.

Charlotte, nine, is no stranger to center court, having witnessed last year’s Wimbledon Single Men’s Final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic with her older brother Prince George, which saw Carlos win the championship.

The two royals were bouncing and yelling for joy, unable to contain their excitement as the contest became more heated. Princess Charlotte and Prince George harmonized in blue for the ceremony, with George wearing a suit and tie and Charlotte wearing a patterned dress.

On the Player’s Lawn, Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte met two groups: female players and people from the ‘Work at Wimbledon’ programme, which connects young people from various backgrounds with jobs at the Championships.

The All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club’s patron, the Princess of Wales, is anticipated to give the trophy to the winner of the coveted Men’s Singles Final.

Barbora Krejcikova won her second Grand Slam title in the Women’s Singles Final on July 12 by defeating Jasmine Paolini in three sets. The 28-year-old became the second Czech player in as many years to win the Venus Rosewater Dish, following Marketa Vondrousova’s success last year.

The announcement comes only days after Wimbledon announced that they were working on “backup plans” in case the Princess, who is having prophylactic chemotherapy, could not attend this year.

Kate paid respect to Andy Murray earlier in the tennis competition, saying he should be “so very proud” after missing out on the Wimbledon final. In an individually written post on social media, Kate wrote: “An incredible Wimbledon career comes to an end. You should be so very proud Andy Murray. On behalf of all of us, thank you! C.”

Sir Andy was scheduled to play mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu, but the former US Open winner withdrew owing to pain in her right wrist.

Princess Kate, 42, has been out of the spotlight since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, but she made a surprise appearance at Trooping the Colour with the rest of the royal family.

In a statement issued last month, Kate stated that she was making significant progress but was “not out of the woods yet” and had “good days and bad days” while she continued her therapy.

Also on Friday, Kensington Palace confirmed Prince William will attend Sunday’s Euro 2024 final in Berlin, where England will face Spain.

William, the FA’s president, also attended the team’s quarter-final victory against Switzerland on Saturday, as well as their group-stage match against Denmark.

King Charles praised England’s men’s football team on reaching the Euro 2024 final, but advised them to avoid further last-minute drama.
