The 9-year-old boy lost his runner in a race and asked the Marine “Will you run with me?”
Lance Corporal Myles Kerr is getting ready to run the 5K charity being held in Charlevoix, Michigan. The event held in 2013 ended up being a little different than he thought.
As Kerr was running in the race, he finally approached a 9-year-old boy who was there with a group. Unfortunately, the boy had trouble keeping up and fell behind. Boden Fuchs didn’t know what to do. When he saw the marine beside him, he asked him if he would run with him.
The 19-year-old Marine tested his endurance by wearing boots and gear.
However, he decided to slow down and run with the boy. Suddenly, competing with his Marines comrades and taking first place wasn’t nearly as important as helping this struggling boy.
Kerr ran with the boy for the rest of the race, encouraging him to finish the race. In the end, they crossed the finish line together. We are so lucky that someone was there to capture the great moment. So many people were moved to see that there was still so much kindness in the world.
Kerr doesn’t think his actions are heroic at all. To him, he was simply doing the right thing. He then took to Twitter to say he had done what any man could have done in his case, ABC reported.
Kerr’s recruiter posted a photo of the two athletes online, and soon people took notice of the touching story. He told ABC News that the Fuchs family also gave him a $100 restaurant voucher that he will definitely use before heading back to Camp Pendleton in California.
