8 great natural ways to remove stains and whiten your white clothes

Here are some of the best DIY solutions for removing stains and whitening your clothes.

1. Toothpaste

Scrub cotton clothes with white toothpaste before washing. Wet your clothes, then use an old toothbrush to apply a thin layer of white toothpaste to the stained area. Scrub the stain vigorously for about 30 seconds, then rinse the garment with water.
For best results on white clothing, use a toothpaste with whitening properties. The toothpaste method usually works well on cotton clothing, but not necessarily on other fabrics.

2. Baking soda

Mix a glass of baking soda with 4 liters of water and coat your clothes. Let them soak for at least an hour or overnight. The baking soda will help cut through the dirt on cotton clothes that makes them dull. Wash them as usual.

3. Vinegar

Vinegar does double duty as a bleach and fabric softener. Pour a glass of vinegar in the machine to bleach clothes.

It is also recommended to pour vinegar into the washing machine and run it without clothes or washing gel several times a year to get rid of dirt and hair.

White vinegar can also be used to remove soap scum. Add one cup to the final rinse cycle of the washing machine for this purpose.

4. Aspirin

Aspirin will help with hangovers, but it will also help with laundry. Mix 6 tablets and place them in a bowl with water. Soak your clothes for 30 minutes in the bowl/tub before putting them in the washing machine.

5. Borax

Pour some borax into the washer with the wash gel to whiten white clothes and remove stains and dirt from them. Borax also works well with colored clothes.

6. Lemon

The citric acid in lemons can bleach fabrics and works well to bleach cotton, linen and polyester fibers. Mix a half cup of lemon juice (from about four lemons) with a gallon of warm water. Add the white laundry to the lemon water and let it soak for at least an hour. You can let it soak longer, even overnight, to bleach it. Then wash as usual.

7. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)

Hydrogen peroxide bleaches, brightens, disinfects and removes stains from clothes. You can pour directly on the stain to remove it or add a cup to the laundry to lighten it.

8. Sunlight

UV rays not only whiten clothes but also kill many types of germs and help disinfect fabrics. Instead of putting clothes in the dryer, hang them outside and the sun will dry and bleach them naturally.
