42-Year-Old Mom Gives Birth to Surprise Quadruplets Calls Herself ‘Luckiest Mom in The Whole World’

Kimberly Fugate, of Jayess, Mississippi, who was expecting triplets, was shocked and delighted when doctors revealed halfway through her C-section that she was carrying an “extra” daughter.

Kimberly Fugate was unprepared for the news that, at the age of 42, she would be a mother again. Kimberly didn’t realize she was pregnant until she was 13 weeks along. But her unexpected pregnancy was not even the most surprising news Kimberly would receive.

When Jayesswent to her first prenatal appointment in November 2013, the day before her 42nd birthday, she discovered that a few more surprises were on the way. Triplets, to be exact.

The doctor looked at her and said, “More feet.”

Needless to say, nothing could have prepared Fugate for what happened after she gave birth to three healthy girls at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The doctor looked at her and said, “More feet.”

Moments later, a fourth girl was born, hidden from ultrasound images throughout her pregnancy.

‘I feel very lucky, like the luckiest mother in the whole world,’ she said. ‘I wasn’t planning on starting over with more children, and many things have changed since I had my quadrupeds, Kenleigh, Kristen, Kayleigh and Kelsey.

It wasn’t just the Fugates who were stunned by the arrival of their four beautiful babies.

The chance of them giving birth to quadruplets is one in 729,000, but the chance of them having identical babies is “almost incalculable” – about 13 million to one – and doctors at the University of Mississippi Medical Center admitted that they had never seen anything like it before.

The Fugate four – Kenleigh, Kristen, Kaleigh and hidden surprise Kelsey – will remain in UMMC’s neonatal intensive care unit until May due to their premature birth. Despite the complications that often arise in multiple pregnancies, Bofill said the babies are healthy.

As for Fugate, her husband and their 10-year-old daughter, Katelyn, there is much to do before the quadruplets return home.

Although nothing about Fugate’s pregnancy was planned, she considers it “a blessing” and is relieved that the quadruplets are here and healthy.

But despite the daily chaos of raising four babies, as well as her oldest daughter Katelyn, Kimberly insists that she and her husband Craig couldn’t be happier.

I believed that God chose me to have these quadruplets, and I felt that He would take care of them and allow them to survive,” she added.
