4 steps to eliminate tartar, gingivitis and whiten your teeth with this simple homemade recipe

Taking care of the mouth, teeth, and gums is of utmost importance. Proper oral hygiene can help prevent various dental problems, including tooth decay, gum disease, and the common bad breath.

The mouth is a window into what is going on inside the body, often acting as vantage point for catching the early signs of systemic disease. For instance, systemic conditions like diabetes or ᴀɪᴅs often manifest as mouth lesions or other oral problems. As a matter of fact, as reported by the Academy of General Dentistry, over 90% of all systemic diseases become apparent as oral problems.

Plaque/tartar is made of the half-chewed food particles in our mouth. It damages teeth by attracting germs to digest them further and the teeth are collateral damage. They are fairly common in people with poor oral hygiene.

Gingivitis happens for similar reason; only difference being it’s the inflammation of the gums. It is a painful disease to be honest and every time you try chewing your food, the pain will remind you just how easy it was to prevent this, by just taking care of your oral cavity.

In addition to helping you chew and eat and speak, your mouth is your gateway to the digestive system – you really don’t want infections there.

Going to dentists can be an expensive hassle (although highly recommended). So here we have tried to give you a fairly simple recipe to get rid of tartar and whiten teeth in the process.

STEP 1: PREPARATION

Ingredients:

-1 tablespoon baking soda
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ cup hydrogen peroxide
– Antiseptic mouthwash/Listerine
– Warm water
– Toothbrush

THE MAKING:

Take a clean bowl and mix the salt and the baking soda. Now, take a moistened toothbrush and dip it in the mixture. Clean your teeth gently and keep spitting the saliva out every few seconds. Keep the cleansing going for about ten minutes, the same way, until you have covered enough ground.

STEP 2:

Take the Hydrogen peroxide and make a solution of it in warm water. Rinse your mouth with this.

Hydrogen peroxide is known for its anti-bacterial properties and your mouth is one place you would definitely want to keep bacteria free.

Keep rinsing for about 5 minutes and then finally rinse your mouth with some tap water.

STEP 3:

Flossing:

One should be doing this regularly any way as it is. This process is especially helpful in preventing gingivitis. It also takes practice to do it well and many people are known to injure their gums, which is why you need to be careful.

Injured gums are especially prone to infections and bleeding gums can be really painful. The pain is mostly because of the fact that the gums are where the blood vessels and most of the nerves are. Any irritation there can be a real impediment.

However, if you are someone who knows how it’s done, do this well and take more time than usual, because the previously mentioned steps bring out the plaque which makes it easier to get out, from the crannies between teeth.

Keep spitting regularly to ease the cleansing process and also rinse your mouth well after you are done.

STEP 4:

The final step, and keep in mind this is best done every single day as a routine, is rinsing your mouth clean with Listerine or any other antiseptic mouthwash.

This will not only freshen your breath, but the washing will poke out whatever little plaque and tartar you missed earlier.

Carry out this four-step routine once every two weeks, combined with a routine of brushing properly twice daily and a Listerine wash in the morning every day. You will see visibly whiter, shinier, stronger teeth in a month, we promise.
